After our 254 v Weasels in
Sept 1991 at the Peel Centre in Hendon
Back row: Andy Burman,
Milton Jolin (West XI guest played a few for us), Rich Wilman (fine player for
us, he scored a 50 in this game adding 126 with Ashton), Richard Sambrook Smith
(not hyphenated, brilliant keeper, he and Burman put on 57 for the first wicket
in this game, including a ran 5!), Roger Farr, Dan Todd.
Front row: John Townley, Mark Ashton (93 not out in this game), Des Dolan
(quality bowler), Ian Maughan (superb batsman), Frank Gallagher (wonderful
scorer).
This was our finest hour to date. The picture was taken by Weasel skipper Bill
Flack. Weasels replied with a feisty 200 plus with Jeremy Best scoring a century
but Gents won.
The etymology of GWLCC is eloquently demonstrated here. University of York
graduates were Burman, Farr, Townley, Ashton and Dolan. Gallagher got kicked out
for being too lazy. |
